For months, Marvel has been looking for an actress to portray Cap's as-yet unknown love interest in next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Many a fine young actress has her name associated with the part, but it turns out that the role has gone to none of the contenders previously mentioned.

Instead, Emily VanCamp has been selected by directors Joe and Anthony Russo to play against Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, the Avenger out of time.

No less a source than Cobie Smulders – S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill – is sharing some inside information on next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the possibility that we'll see the character in action on the S.H.I.E.L.D. television series.

Even though he's living as a man out of time in the 21st Century, Steve Rogers can still hang out with his old war buddies and non-buddies in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Among the non-buddies to make a return, we now know, is Arnim Zola, the HYDRA scientist played by Toby Jones in Captain America: The Avenger.

Bad news, everybody: Cap's dance date has finally cancelled.

In next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Hayley Atwell will not reprise her Captain America: The First Avenger role as Peggy Carter.

Synopsis: A German dentist-turned-bounty-hunter in the Antebellum South forms a mutually beneficial partnership with a freed slave.  In exchange for the liberated man's help, the bounty hunter aids him in tracking down and freeing his beloved wife, who is being held by a merciless plantation owner.

Quentin Tarantino made a name for himself with his 1992 debut, Reservoir Dogs and has continued to engage audiences with his unique writing and direction since. Opening Christmas Day is his latest film, Django Unchained, which stars Jamie Foxx (Ray, Miami Vice), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Carnage), Leonardo Dicaprio (Inception, The Basketball Diaries), Kerry Washington (Ray, Last King of Scotland), and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, The Long Kiss Goodnight).

The film focuses on Django, played by Foxx, a slave living in the Deep South after having been separated from his wife Broomhilda, played by Washington. When Django is held for a slave auction, Dr. King Schultz (Waltz), a German bounty hunter who uses his former profession of a dentist as a cover, frees Django from his vicious masters and gives him the option of helping him hunt down and kill the Brittle Brothers, a ruthless gang of killers whom only Django has seen. In return, Schultz will free Django from slavery completely and help find and rescue Broomhilda from the charming but brutal Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), who owns Candyland, a plantation where male slaves are trained to fight for sport and female slaves are forced into prostitution.

A press conference was recently held in New York City in which filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, joined by Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington, Christoph Waltz, and Don Johnson discussed their new film, Django Unchained.

Usually, an actor is lucky if he can find one beloved role on television to add to his resume … Walton Goggins now has two!

The actor, who began his career appearing in such films as The Apostle, and The Bourne Identity, finally came into prominence with his career-making role as doomed Detective Shane Vendrell on the groundbreaking series The Shield. After the series ended it’s incredible seven-season run, Goggins went right back to work on television playing another misunderstood character, Boyd Crowder, the childhood friend and antagonist to Timothy Olyphant’s Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens on the FX series Justified. The busy actor also found time to appear on FX’s Sons of Anarchy this past season, as well as supporting roles in such recent films as Predators, Cowboys & Aliens, Straw Dogs, Lincoln, and the upcoming sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation. But first, Goggins can be seen in visionary director Quentin Tarantino’s latest film Django Unchained, which stars Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx and opens in theaters on Christmas Day.

The film, which recently earned several Golden Globe-nominations, is Tarantino’s tribute to the classic Western and blends elements of comedy, political awareness, and frankly, Tarantino, with the classic Spaghetti Western formula. In Django Unchained, Foxx stars as Django, a slave from the Deep South who is freed by a German bounty hunter named Dr. King Shultz (Academy Award-winner Christoph Waltz), shortly before the beginning of the Civil War. The bounty hunter soon makes the former slave an offer that he cannot refuse. If Django helps Shultz hunt and kill the men that he is after, who only Django can identify, then the bounty hunter will help him free his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from Calvin J. Candle (Oscar-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the slave owner who purchased her. Goggins plays Billy Crash, an assassin working for Candle. In addition to Goggins, Foxx, Waltz, DiCaprio, and Washington, the movie also features performances from Oscar-nominee Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Don Johnson (TV’s Miami Vice), Bruce Dern (The Hole), James Remar (48 Hrs.), James Russo (Beverly Hills Cop), Tom Wopat (TV’s The Dukes of Hazzard), M. C. Gainey (Sideways), Franco Nero (Django), Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead), Russ Tamblyn (Drive), Amber Tamblyn (The Ring), and Oscar-nominee Jonah Hill (21 Jump Street). 

I recently had the immense pleasure of talking to actor Walton Goggins about his work on Django Unchained, as well as G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and the upcoming forth season of Justified. The energetic actor discussed his new film, how excited he was to work with Quentin Tarantino, what it’s like on a Tarantino set, improvising, preparing for his role, creating the character of Billy Crash, the film’s possible connections to Shaft, balancing comedy and action, what fans can expect from his role in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, season four of Justified, and remembering the late great Shane Vendrell. 

The Weinstein Company has unveiled the first official clip from Django Unchained. 

Though the film undoubtedly contains much gunfire and whatnot, this is a Quentin Tarantino movie, so this clip is focused squarely on really good actors playing a dialogue scene with relish.

Countess commercials are now reminding us on a daily basis that Christmas is right around the corner.  Today, though, one new commercial reminds us that Christmas this year doesn't just mean presents and goodwill towards men.  A new TV spot for Django Unchained celebrates the holiday season with vengeance, comedy, and hints of over the top violence.

Oh, and there are also three new stills from the film, showing off the characters played by Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Under a month out from the film's release, The Weinstein Company has dropped a final theatrical trailer for Django Unchained, the new Western-style revenge tale from Quentin Tarantino.
